F-7 is one of the first sectors of Islamabad, planned by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in the city's grid of lettered and numbered sectors. Close to the Margalla Hills, it is quiet, green and among the most sought-after places to live in the capital.

The layout

Like every Islamabad sector, F-7 is split into four sub-sectors (F-7/1 to F-7/4) around a central markaz — here the well-known Jinnah Super Market, with shops, cafés, banks and bookshops. Each sub-sector has its own smaller market, school and green belts, so daily needs are within walking distance.

Who it suits

  • Families and diplomats who want a central, established neighbourhood.
  • People working in the Blue Area, the government offices and the embassies, all a short drive away.
  • Long-term owners — houses in F-7 rarely change hands, and plots almost never come up.

Things to know

  • Mostly houses, few plots. Almost everything for sale is an existing house, many of them older and on large plots — check the condition, or budget for rebuilding with our construction cost calculator.
  • CDA rules. Building, extending and using a house for business follow CDA by-laws; ask for the approved plan.
  • Renting is common, often by the whole house or by floor.
