Gulberg is the middle of Lahore in every sense. It is where the city's offices, banks, restaurants and shopping streets cluster, and it is one of the few places where you can live in a house and walk to work.

The parts of Gulberg

Gulberg is divided into numbered parts (Gulberg I to V). Gulberg III holds two of Lahore's landmarks — Liberty Market and the computer and phone shops of Hafeez Centre — while MM Alam Road is the city's best-known strip of restaurants and brand stores. The Main Boulevard runs through the whole area and carries much of its office space.

Away from the main roads, Gulberg's residential streets are older and greener than the newer societies, with larger plots and established houses.

Who it suits

  • Professionals who want to be close to offices on the Main Boulevard and Jail Road.
  • Businesses looking for shops, showrooms or offices with walk-in trade.
  • Families who want a central address and don't mind city traffic.

Things to know

  • Commercial use of a residential plot needs the right permission from the Lahore Development Authority; ask to see it if you're buying a house to run a business from.
  • Parking and traffic are the price of being central — check a house's access at rush hour before you decide.
  • Older houses may need work: budget for it with our construction cost calculator.
